PP geotextile fabric is crafted from polypropylene or fibers in woven, needle-punched, or heat-bonded methods. Short fiber needle-punched geotextile is robust, durable, permeable, and deformation-resistant. BPM short fiber nonwoven geotextile is utilized for ground support, soil stabilization, and various civil engineering applications. It features high tensile strength, elongation rate, UV stabilization, filtration, and abrasion resistance. The fabric is commonly used in filtration, separation, protection, and drainage in construction projects.

PP geotextile fabric has the following Advantages:

  1. It has good air permeability and water permeability, allowing water to pass through, thereby effectively intercepting sand and soil loss.
  2. Effectively diffuse, transfer or decompose concentrated stress to prevent soil from being damaged by external forces.
  3. Prevent mixing between the upper and lower layers of sand, gravel, soil and concrete.
  4. The mesh is not easy to be blocked, and the mesh structure formed by the unshaped fibrous tissue has strain and mobility.
  5. High water permeability, it can still maintain good water permeability under the pressure of soil and water.
  6. Corrosion resistance, using polypropylene or polyester and other chemical fibers as raw materials, acid and alkali resistance, no corrosion, no insects, and anti-oxidation.
  7. Simple construction, light weight and easy to use.

Polyester fiber resists acids and weak alkalis, remains stable to various oxidants and reducing agents. However, it is not resistant to strong alkalis, which can embrittle it. Polypropylene fiber exhibits good chemical stability, acid and alkali resistance, and stability to oxidants.

Polyester is more sunlight-resistant than polypropylene, which requires UV treatment for long-term exposure. Geotextiles, usually not exposed to sunlight, prioritize acid and alkali resistance. Polypropylene ensures stable performance in diverse conditions. Polyester has fair acid resistance but poor alkali resistance, unsuitable for alkaline environments. In landfills with complex leachate, PP staple fiber non-woven fabrics are preferred.

Geotextile construction method for domestic waste landfill

  • Storage, transportation and treatment of geotextile

Protect PP geotextile rolls before installation. Stack them in a dry area, ensuring water drainage. Limit stack height to four rolls. Safeguard rolls during transportation to prevent damage. This includes moving them from storage to the work site.

  • The connection and stitching of geotextile

For nearly flat surfaces (≤10% slope), use hot melt welding. On steeper slopes, employ continuous stitching or hot melt welding for geotextiles. The bonding wire should be a polymer with over 60N tensile strength. Ensure its chemical and UV resistance equals or surpasses the geotextile’s properties.

Case Study Of PP Geotextile Fabric

With the increasing number of domestic wastes, the Lao government vigorously develops landfill projects, and the government allocates funds to support these landfill projects to ensure the country’s environmental sanitation and people’s water safety issues.

In 2020, Lao customers found the details of their government bidding project that we gave us. They need geomembrane, geotextile and composite drainage net. We send them to customers for testing. Each sample is 2 square meters in size. Our products have been tested by professional IGS in Thailand. A customer from Laos placed an order for us.
