Filament polyester geotextile is a synthetic, permeable material. It’s used in civil construction to improve soil characteristics. Its use in road projects grows annually. Geotextile fabric reinforces soil by adding tensile strength. It can also be a rapid dewatering layer in roadbeds or railways. BPM filament polyester geotextile separates soil layers without impeding groundwater circulation. It’s used where the ground is unstable. Geotextile fabric makes poor soils more suitable for construction. It separates, filters, reinforces, protects, and drains soils. BPM filament polyester geotextile is a fast dehydration layer in roadbeds. It maintains permeability without losing its separation function. This prevents soil erosion and roadbed collapse from rain.

Filament Polyester Geotextile Solutions for Road Construction
BPM Lamu Partner is CALE INFRASTRUCTURE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY. They got the A14 road Lamu-Garissa project, totaling 467 kilometers. The main road is Mokowe-Hindi-Bodhei-Ijara-BuraEast-Garissa, totaling 257km. They sent us an inquiry for filament polyester geotextile, specification 250gm, minimum tensile strength>16kn/m, elongation<65%. Our geotextile is made from long fiber polyester, forming a net with three-dimensional structure. It’s a new material for geotechnical projects, with good mechanical properties, drainage, acid/alkali resistance, and anti-aging. Its wide opening size ensures good permeability and filtration. BPM has a 16,000 sqm factory and advanced geomembrane/geotextile lines, impressing them. Before signing, they asked for product brochures, ISO Certificate, SIRIM Certificate, Test Certificate, project references, and material safety data sheets. All requirements were emailed.
Solutions
Garissa road construction started in Lamu, Kenya, in August 2019. The project section is CH80+000-CH160+000. Few structures were present; no bridges or asphalt surfaces. Mainly earthwork and culvert construction. The top floor width was 11m. The two-way, two-lane road was 7m wide. Soil shoulders on both sides were 2m wide. The subgrade slope ratio was 1:2, a Class II highway. The branch road’s top floor width was 8.5m. The two-way, two-lane road was 6.5m wide. Soil shoulders on both sides were 1m wide. The subgrade slope ratio remained 1:2. Lamu is in East Africa, near the equator. It’s in the tropical monsoon zone with a savanna climate. There are rainy and dry seasons. Heavy rains from April to July; light rains from October to December. Rainfall is heavy in the rainy season. Rainwater quickly forms rivers. Occasional rainfall in the dry season is also intense.
BPM Fliament Polyester Geotextile Features
- Increase the stability of gravel slopes and reinforced soil to prevent soil erosion and frost damage at low temperatures
- The isolation layer between artificial fill, rockfill or material field and the foundation, isolation between different frozen soil layers, filtering and reinforcement effects
- The filter layer around the drainage concealed pipe or the gravel drainage ditch
- Vertical or horizontal drainage inside the earth dam, buried in the soil to dissipate pore water pressure
- Highways (including temporary roads), railways, embankments, airports and other projects are used to strengthen weak foundations
BPM filament polyester geotextile is a continuous filament needle-punched non-woven geotextile. It’s made from polyester virgin material. Formed by needle punching and thermal binding. Offers optimum performance per unit weight. BPM filament geotextile provides effective separation, filtration, drainage, protection, and reinforcement. It’s an economical solution for engineering projects.
